Camping at Greenacres {aka space to clear your head}

At the beginning of the summer the children created a Summer Bucket List upon which was the wish to go camping at the amazing Greenacres Campsite near Pilton in Somerset. I say amazing because Greenacres takes it back to basics and above all gives the children that all important space; space to run, space to play, space to be free. I'm going to add to that - it gives the adults that all important space; space to run, space to play, space to be free and space to clear the head....

Greenacres Campsite - space!

This trip gave me the added confidence that we did it alone, just me and the kiddies. We demonstrated excellent teamwork at putting up the tent...

...and I displayed remarkable composure at being stung by a wasp - twice. The husband joined us for our BBQ night where he and Alban had some all important man time cooking the sausages but the rest of the trip was just me and the kiddies. And it was perfect. We ate together and played...

...We explored Glastonbury and climbed the Tor, sat up late at night waiting for the stars and caught a glimpse of one shooting across the sky, drank hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows over the tea lights - which does work...

...We explored Montecute House and discovered poetry from 1770 etched onto a window pane, spotted Pudding Houses in the distance, climbed vast stairways and found playdough in a National Trust property!

We had the most amazing time doing simple things and created the best memories.

I cleared my head leaving some sadness at home and took the time to think. To make plans. To look ahead. To enjoy this precious life.

  4. I don't know that camping site! Must follow the link. Love climbing the Tor. We used to go on the Summer Solstice. Sorry to hear about the wasp stings. We can't leave the doors open at the moment without letting them in. Am I the only one who wants to move to wherever Kath Bee lives? Enjoy your holiday in Norfolk.
