Camp Bestival 2016 {Me Time}

Having looked at Camp Bestival from a family point of view, and shared some lovely images, today I got to thinking about what I got out of it as an individual trying to find some me time. Camp Bestival is clearly billed as a family festival but that doesn't mean, with a bit of planning, us grown ups can't find some time alone doing some grown up things.

We struck a good balance again this year as a family unit which gave everyone the opportunity to do the things they wanted to do. I planned ahead and booked another nature run with Nick, having loved it last year, and it didn't disappoint; with a gentle 5k+ around and beyond the festival site I can definitely recommend it - a morning run set off at 9.30 on each of the mornings and cost £5.

The nature runs set off from the Slow Motion area which also homed a yoga tent so you just know that I spent some of my me time there! Becoming a bit of an early riser I dragged myself out of bed and up the big hill onto the main site for two 8 a.m. classes; Qi Gong on the Saturday and Rise & Shine Yoga on the Sunday. Qi Gong was new to me and felt similar to Tai Chi, it was very gentle with a calming focus on balance, breath and stretching. The Rise & Shine Yoga I was more familiar with and was taken by a last minute replacement Kali - Kali Green Yogini - who has reignited my desire to move to Cornwall just so I can take some more of her classes! This year all yoga and meditation classes were free.

There were a few bonuses of being up at 8; one was seeing the sun over a very quiet festival site and another being the post yoga Chai Latte from the Coffee Camper and sitting drinking it in complete peace and quiet before the majority of festival goers headed onto the site.

The Literary Institute has always been a favourite area of mine; a big tent full of old armchairs and sofas with an array of speakers, authors and comedy to sit back and chill out to. I headed in just twice this year; once with my girl to see the Scummy Mummies and once alone to listen to Jenny Ellinghaus speak about taking yoga on your travels. Now, unfortunately I don't travel beyond driving to see family or pitch up a tent somewhere but the fact it was about yoga made me go along - and I'm glad I did. Jenny spoke about her ongoing travels around the world and how she manages to incorporate yoga into her days on the road. I had to buy her book, Yoga for Travellers, even though I have no travel plans as it is a great read for any yoga lover.

Now I didn't just spend my Camp Bestival times alone running and doing all things yoga - I was also lucky enough to meet up with some other bloggers and quaff champagne within the Bollywood area of the site. The sun shone down on us as I caught up with past blogger friends and said hello to some new ones. My family joined me and my girl made a new friend whilst the hubby had some me time of his own getting friendly with the ladies from Pan's People!
