We decided to leave our base for a day and, with the picnic packed, headed out to explore the North Devon coastline of Exmoor and beyond. The winding roads, that went on far longer than the route app had predicted, coupled with the threat of car sickness from the backseat, tried to spoil the day but it was all worth it when we found a quiet coastal town, and further along the coast, vast sandy beaches.
All in all a perfect day which ignited my desires to own a campervan and dream the dream of living the beach life.
One day maybe.
I even managed to get a full 30 minutes sat on my own. ON MY OWN! Priceless.
It is the simple things that put a smile on my face.

Looks fab, love North Devon. My Grandparents lived looking out on Exmoor at the Purple Headed Mountain where the song/hymn was written!

DeleteI love that bit of coastline, my grandparents lived in Combe Martin when we were kids so we spent many a summer down there. Totally agree on the campervan, would love one now as I think it would be perfect with the 2 little ones, stick a awning on the side and it's a great space.

DeleteI love Lyton and the area around there (Porlock and Horner espcially). I am so looking forward to going back there in the summer. I love the photos, really makes me want to be there now. Now we've moved back to Wilts too we are looking forward to going down there more often.
ReplyDeleteFamily holidays are great, but I agree. A bit of time on your own is great too, especially if you can grab those minutes on a beach!
I just wish Wiltshire was closer to the coast :( !

Lynton and Lynmouth is a beautiful place - did you ride on the cliff railway? and Croyde which is along the coast from me - such a haven for wannabee surfers lol i tend to avoid it as it is usually very busy. some great beach shots and the huuuge ice cream shot made me smile x x
